Why write a blog?

Starting a blog, I must admit, is a little daunting.  The thought of putting words out into the world to impact mankind forever takes careful consideration and a courageous heart... for words are like toothpaste, once they are out, you can't put them back.
But if I were to be truly honest, the scarier thought to contend with, is that my words won't have impact on the world.  That what I think and feel have been experienced by thousands of others and the lessons I've learned might be found in an dusty book, shelved in a library, titled "Life Lessons 101".  After all, hasn't it all been said before?
So it brings me to this...why write a blog?  I'm know there are many reasons to write, and in my opinion, some are noble and some seem a little self-promoting.   Many bloggers, want to share their life and resources with others and find an effective outlet in this venue.  Others seem to find release and clarity in putting thoughts to text.  There is valuable writing experience to be gained, and even professional advancement could occur.
Sounds good - now to pick my reason for blogging... I have 5 children and could use an outlet to share my life, clarity and release is always welcome, gaining a new skill couldn't ever hurt and if it all ended up in a chartbuster book, well step back and watch me blog! ;)  Whew!
But my heart is calling me to something, to another reason - one that will stand if all the others fail.  A reason that is more noble and right than all my others.  I will blog... to testify.  Testify of the grace of God so evident in the messes of my life.  To tell the unfolding story of a ragamuffin being transformed by a love so pure, that it could only come from one person... God himself.  So stay tuned, if your as curious as I am, to how this story plays out.
